The Show: (February 3 issue)
It was a night of history. On January 11th 2018, as the water came flooding into The Coffee Gallery Backstage, some of the finest artist in L.A. were on stage performing great American roots music for the 1st Anniversary show of The Roadhouse Series. Little did anyone known, a busted water line on the avenue outside had caused water to seep into the venue. As the first historic set was coming to an end and we drank the last of the musical waters, our Big Kahuna, Bob Stane, took to his canoe and, megaphone in hand, called out for evacuation, while the fire department broke down the doors. As performer, writer, photographer and songwriter, Paul Zollo described it on his Facebook page:
“With Neil Rosengarden in the spirit of those valiant Titanic musicians, we would play till the end. We heard Bob Stane telling everyone to "please evacuate now before you get electrocuted!" I yelled, in mid-song, "Save yourself!" Something I so rarely say during a song. I loved how Neil Rosengarden - although we were going down with the ship quickly - played so beautifully! And he played the very last notes of the song “Whispering Hope” by The Band- as Bob Stane urged us to ‘STOP ALREADY!’
This was at the end of the first half of Terry Paul Roland's Best of the Roadhouse series. It was half of one of the best shows ever!”
So, in the spirit of Americana determination and our ability to overcome articles, we will present The Best of The Roadhouse-Set Two: After the Flood. Included in the festivities will be our fearless Captain Roberto Stane, to guide through the perilous waters of The Coffee Gallery Backstage as artists like our faithful host Patrick Carrico, Chad Watson, the Titanic Legends-Paul Zollo & Neil Rosengarden, Pam Loe, RJ Chesney, Emily Zuzik, Levi Petree, Kassidy Heal, Robbie Mangiardi, Eddie Hedges, and Dwight Payne re-group with life boats and great songs to bring us to shore with the second set of this historic show. Also along for the voyage will be other artists from the first set and those who were ill and escaped the perils of the January 11th Day of the Flood show. This will be a full show with $10.00 discount coupons for the survivors of the first set. Proceeds will go toward the fearless band and the water-logged venue via our Captain. But, be forewarned because you never know what’s going to happen at The Coffee Gallery Backstage and The Roadhouse Series. Just as a precaution, you may want to bring your swim suit! See you there!
I’m back at this awesome venue just in time for Christmas!! I’ll be doing holiday songs and so much more!

The Roadhouse moves along with our own movable feast of historic and influential periods of popular music. This time our stop is the music of Laurel Canyon and Los Angeles during the pivotal and diverse decade from 1965 to 1975. It was a time that saw the migration of the great folk artists from Greenwich Village blossom into the The Byrds and The Mamas and the Papas. The scene in L.A. would soon give birth to country-rock with artists like Buffalo Springfield, Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers. Psychedelia would reign over the legendary Sunset Strip with The Doors and Love. And up in Laurel Canyon Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young would collaborate with Joni Mitchell and create harmonic anthems for the age and the ages.
Join us for a night to celebrate this great era of popular music as only the artists of The Roadhouse Series can offer.
This is our first time at The OC Market Place and I cant wait!
We are playing this wonderful event at theOlive Dell Ranch Nudist Resort!
The Roadhouse Series-The Bakersfield Sound
All genres of great American music go through periods of purification that brings it all back to the roots of the sound. Often, in response to the commercialization and compromise of the music by big business. In country music, The Bakersfield Sound emerged in the late 40s and early 50s in response the music's trend toward watering down the form with strings and orchestration. With its emphasis on big sounding electric guitars, soaring pedal steel, and authentic countryfied fiddle, with a touch of western swing and Mexican ranchero music, The Bakersfield Sound came of age. Artists like Maddox Brothers & Rose, Tommy Collins, Jean Shepherd, and Wynn Stewart pioneered the sound right here in our Golden State. Later, into the early 60s, Susan Raye, Freddie Hart, Bonnie Owens and most notably, country legends and superstars, Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, gave the sound a name and location. Both artists drew from and helped to popularize the Bakersfield Sound based on what they learned from local musicians.
Today, with the growing Americana movement, and since the 60s and 70s, the sound has been championed by Gram Parsons, Dwight Yoakam, Emmylou Harris and The Desert Rose Band. The Bakersfield Sound is now regarded as a genre unto itself. And it all started in, a town north of L.A. smack in the middle of the heartland of California.
Our featured artist-in-residence and M.C. is the Inland Empire's Patrick Carrico for this sure-to-be-sold-out show. Special guests include Roadhouse alumni, Kassidy Heal, Chad Watson, Pam Loe, Vern Monnett, Coyote Moon, J.P. McDermott and Alice Wallace. Also, very special guests include the legendary Ronnie Mack, veteran singer-songwriter Karen Tobin and the great pedal steel playing of Dean Parks.
Lets have at it again with our friends at Last Name Brewery in Upland CA!!!
We play 2 - 5pm
We play 9PM - 1AM
The Road House Series featuring Patrick Carrico presents A Tribute to Sun Records
In the early part of the decade of the 1950s in Memphis, Tennessee Sam Phillips helped to create a new sound soon called “Rockabilly.” But, Sun Studios and record company was really much more. It foreshadowed today’s Americana-roots music movement by featuring artists like BB King, Howlin’ Wolf, Rufus Thomas, Barbara Pitman, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Charlie Rich. Today it is considered the birth place of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Now singer-songwriter and rockabilly artist & your redhot host, Patrick Carrico brings you his highly successful Roadhouse Series, A Tribute to Sun Records. Special guests include Aireene Espiritu & the Itch (including Ed Tree & Debra Dobkin), Pam Loe, The Podunk Poets, Kassidy Heal, Eli Locke, Chad Watson, Neil Rosengarden, and Vern Monnett. Wow! What a cast. And what songs!
Join us for an evening of fun, entertainment and most of all, Rock ‘n’ Roll!

His hits like "That'll Be The Day," "Rave On" "Not Fade Away," and "Peggy Sue," are only a few of the songs that are now an important part of the American Songbook.

THE GOLDEN DAYS OF THE ROUTE 66 ROADHOUSE with Patrick Carrico. LET’S GO HONKY TONKIN’
The golden days of the Route 66 Roadhouse will be reborn as we celebrate the life and music of the Hillbilly Shakespeare, Hank Williams. Why Hank? He left this planet on January 1st, 1953. So, we at The Coffee Gallery Backstage hereby declare January Luke the Drifter month.
Our Roadhouse Band, keeping us honest and real, will be a young artist No Depression magazine has called, "The Future of California Country," Patrick Carrico and his band. He is a combination of Chris Issac and Dwight Yoakum. He always manages to find the rockabilly soul in his original songs and in his tributes to other artists. His take on Hank Williams will be very special indeed.
We love our friends at Black Watch Pub and am looking forward to coming back here!

A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE AND LEGEND OF MERLE HAGGARD
We are honored to host a tribute to Merle Haggard with some of the best roots and Americana musicians and singer-songwriters in California.
It is not an overstatement to say, Merle Haggard was one of the greatest songwriters of the last 100 years. The native of Bakersfield, California helped to put his own brand of outlaw country on the map. With his loss one of the true originals of country, folk and Americna music has passed to the ages. Now it’s time to celebrate this great legend in one of the L.A. area’s best listening rooms.
“Merle Haggard was one of the giants of the late 20th century,” Dave Alvin
“Haggard songs are lived in, broke in and filled with longing. Merle’s songs are train-like, lonesome, well-made and hard as hell. May they always keep moving.” Tom Waits
Through a rocky road from labor camps to honky-tonks & roadhouses, prisons to country stardom, Merle Haggard never lost sight of his own musical integrity as an entertainer and an artist. He was one of the handful of singer songwriters in any genre who we can call a national treasure.” San Diego Troubadour
“He’s up with Miles Davis and Bill Monroe. He carved a singular sound.” Sturgill Simpson
“Sometimes you forget about how much natural-born heartbreak there is in a Merle Haggard song, because of all the boomtown, oil well, Dust Bowl honky-tonk imagery of his music.” Bob Dylan
This will be an intimate gathering with artists including Paul Zollo, Aireen Espiritu, Ed Tree, Dean Parks, Chad Watson, Pam Loe, Patrick Carrico, Calico the band, Dillon O’Brian, Travis Allen, Al Bonam and Coyote Moon.
Make your reservations early for this one-of-a-kind tribute which is sure to sell out.
